    You know, I’m not someone who hates on porn stars. It doesn’t take more than a few minutes of knowing me to figure out that I have no issue whatsoever with pornography. In fact, I quite like pornography. And I have nothing against Sasha Grey. I quite like her as well. It’s just that when I look at her and watch her face move as she talks… it’s like she’s missing some key spark of life in her. Something elemental and important is just not there in her eyes.     I find it kind of disturbing honestly.

I definitely go with the combined fingerbang rather than the hyphenated finger-bang.

I find that the hyphen takes some of the humor out of the word and makes it seem more technical. "You see, he was banging her with his finger" where as fingerbang just comes across as more awesome. Like, it should be the name of an all girl metal band.

Also, I believe context should be considered. It would seem, to me, that the majority of people using the word are probably not English majors. That’s not to suggest that anyone using it is illiterate (I’m quite fond of it myself and I don’t think I’m literate. I read real good!) but my fondness for the word is a direct result of it’s non-flowery nature. It’s the lowbrow crudeness of the word that suggests that perhaps a hyphen is more sophisticated or, at least, complex, in the context that the word is typically used.

Granted, I understand that proper grammar isn’t generally variable based on context. I’m going with what feels right to me.

Also I would put forth that "Fingerbang" seems like a somewhat more intimate act than "Finger-bang". Given that there does seem to be a level of achievement (even a sense of conquering) that typically comes along with a discussion that uses the word in question, it would appear to be that the more intimate "fingerbang" would feel more comfortable when written out than the less intimate (again, in my estimation only) "finger-bang".

That said, in a somewhat different context, the detachment of the hyphenated "finger-bang" could possibly insinuate a certain boredom, perhaps even distain for the act. It could, theoretically, be used to undercut the victory of the non-hyphenated "fingerbang".

For instance:

"Dude, last night Jenny totally let me fingerbang her under the table at the Dairy Queen! It was fucking epic, bro!"

verses:

"Ugh. No, I didn’t fuck him. We fooled around at the Dairy Queen and I let him finger-bang me under the table, but I couldn’t bring myself to go any further. It was totally weak. I almost puked."

See what I mean?

Though looking at it now, I wonder if I’m assigning the seemingly disinterested, even disgusted hyphenated "finger-bang" to the female in this story whereas the more excited (though apparently delusional) male in this scenario gets the friendlier, more approachable non-hyphenated "fingerbang".

Perhaps the hyphen, for me, comes down to an unconscious fear of rejected sexual advances from women. Or even further, perhaps I’m projecting my fear that my own sexuality isn’t taken seriously or is perhaps even considered pathetic or weak onto this word and it’s controversial hyphen. Apparently this may be the case given the somewhat aggressive and even kind of paranoid slant I’ve given the female character in this hypothetical Dairy Queen fingerbanging incident.

Or maybe it’s got something to do with my possible need to look down on this particular guy’s inability to close the deal with the fictional female Dairy Queen customer.

Generally if one is using the word "fingerbang" it implies that fingerbanging was as far as the sexual encounter went. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be noteworthy. For instance, if our hypothetical couple went on to have sex bathroom of said Dairy Queen (which is a disgusting thought, considering that 95% of all Dairy Queens I’ve ever been in were filthy, deplorable places that seemed to be coated with a thick layer of salmonella) the aforementioned fingerbanging under the table would be hardly worth mentioning.

So maybe I feel that simply fingerbanging a woman is a somewhat underwhelming achievement in terms of an unconsummated sexual relationship. I could be that I feel that fingerbanging (or, perhaps in this context, finger-banging) as the entirety o the encounter is a failure. A second base hit, to be sure, but ultimately an out. After all, a base hit is only worth anything if you’re able to bring a run in.

I’d like to think that’s more likely the case. I don’t know if it paints my own subconscious in any better light, but I’d rather think that I expect more from myself than that I’m afraid of rejection. That’s hardly realistic, but it’d what I’d like to think anyway.

So what it comes down to is that using the hyphenated "finger-bang" implies that I have a deep seeded fear of women and the control they wield over my own self worth via their sexuality (and ability to withhold that sexuality from me) and perceived judgement of my own sexuality. As well as possibly a somewhat pathetic inability to function as a sexual adult. That to use the hyphenated finger-bang implies a failure to copulate, which is, ultimately, a failure to do the most fundamentally basic function of our existence as human beings.

Whereas using the non-hyphenated "fingerbang" is like HIGH FIVE MOTHERFUCKER!

Someone has taken the original audio of Linda Blair doing her lines, before she was redubbed by Mercedes McCambridge, and edited back into the movie. I find it pretty damned interesting. It really reminds you that a small child played that role. I don’t think Linda gets nearly enough credit for her part in creating that character and really making it scary. I mean, I’d say that she’s is easily in the top five scariest horror movie characters, for me anyway. 

Anyway, I just thought I’d share.

Seeing him with the beard, I’m starting to feel like Joseph Gordon Levitt should play George Carlin in a movie. I mean, he’s certainly a prettier guy that Carlin was, but I dunno… it’s vibe I’ve been getting lately. Something should happen with that.

Not that I think there should necessarily be a movie about George Carlin.  But maybe a movie about Richard Pryor that features scenes with George Carlin. Or maybe a movie about the early days of SNL. Or even that movie in the works about Belushi. I dunno. I’m just thinking out loud.
